MY JOURNEY
For over 30 years, I have worked professionally in the theater arts with a heavy emphasis on movement-based theater and dance. From an early age, I was trained by teachers who emphasized a holistic theater practice, where the health of the body and spirit was paramount. It was believed that only a truly balanced individual could perform and live with authenticity. As I grew older and began to engage in my teaching practice, it was clear that it was these principles that I wanted to pass on. My movement class became a transformational space where anatomical health and energetic efficiency became the focus, and the emotional health of the collective was always taken into consideration. Over time, my investigations in dance led to an increased fascination with anatomy and the body’s ability to heal. I began to feel that there was a future for me in the healing arts, as I started to imagine assisting others in transformation outside of the dance studio.
I was first introduced to energy medicine during a particularly challenging time of physical injury and mental distress. The methods that I had been relying on in the past seemed unable address what I needed, so I turned to acupuncture. In one acupuncture session, I felt comforted and amazed at how holistic the medicine was—and how immediate the relief was. I became fascinated by the complexity and elegance of the system of meridians I saw on the chart hanging near the treatment table. I felt an immediate connection, and knew that one day I must understand it more intimately. In 2020, when the pandemic began, I realized that it was the time to begin this journey and enrolled at Pacific College of Health and Science. I completed my studies in 2024, earning a Master’s Degree in Acupuncture.
MY MISSION
My mission is to provide a holistic approach to healing, helping all individuals find physical and spiritual balance through acupuncture. I hope to help illuminate each patient’s innate ability for transformation and encourage a path toward healthful and authentic living. As a healthcare practitioner, I am extremely passionate about supporting mental health, trauma recovery, digestive health and pain management.
AbOUT ACUPUNCTURE
Acupuncture is the insertion and stimulation of needles at specific points on the body to facilitate health. Rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine, the practice is based on an energetic anatomical system. Vital energy, or qi, is cyclically transported through the body via an interconnected network of channels, called meridians. Disease occurs when the energy in the meridians becomes imbalanced. Accessing specific locations, called acupuncture points, instructs the body to correct the energetic imbalance—thereby restoring health and encouraging recovery. Acupuncture is often used and effective for the treatment of chronic pain, and is, therefore, a reasonable referral option for many doctors. Acupuncture's potential extends beyond pain management and encompasses a wide range of health conditions. Acupuncture has shown promising results in stress reduction and mental health issues, immune system support, digestive health, gynecological health, respiratory conditions, sleep disorders, and neurological disorders.
